Pranab Mukherjee honored with Bharat Ratna, Nanaji and Bhupen Hazarika received posthumous honors

  • The highest civilian honor has been awarded to 45 celebrities so far

                                 Former President Pranab Mukherjee has been honored with Bharat Ratna on Thursday. At the same time, National Volunteer Association thinker Nanaji Deshmukh and singer Bhupen Hazarika also received the honor posthumously. Virendrajit Singh, chairman of the Daily Research Institute, has accepted this honor on behalf of Nanaji Deshmukh. Bhupen Hazarika's son has accepted the honor on his behalf. Mukherjee is the fifth president to receive the highest civilian honor.This honor was preceded by Dr. S Radhakrishnan, Rajendra Prasad, Zakir Hussain and VV Giri have been found.

Twenty years later, more than two celebrities have been honored. Earlier in 1999, socialist leader Jaiprakash Narayan, a guitarist, Pandit Ravikshankar, economist. Amartya Sen and Gopinath Bordoloi, a freedom fighter, were selected for the honor.

Bharat Ratna was given four years later
Four years later Bharat Ratna has been given. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and freedom fighter and founder of Banaras Hindu University Madan Moham Malviya received the honor in 2015. The first 45 celebrities have already got Bharat Ratna. Now the number has dropped to 48.

Pranab has been Finance, Defense and External Affairs Minister

  • Pranab Mukherjee was born on December 11, 1935 in Mirati, West Bengal. In 1969, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi gave her a Rajya Sabha ticket. He was then appointed Finance Minister in his cabinet in 1982. However, in 1989 the party joined the Congress itself. Subsequently in the government of PV Narasimharao, he was appointed the President of the Planning Commission in 1991 and the Foreign Minister in 1995.
  • In 2004, Pranab Mukherjee won the Lok Sabha elections in the UPA government. From 2004 to 2006, he assumed charge of the Defense Ministry. He was entrusted with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 2006-09 and the Finance Ministry until 2009-12. He was nominated to the post of president in Congress in 2012. In the presidential election, he defeated PA Sangma. Pranab was the President of the country from 2012 to 2017. He remained in Congress for almost 5 decades before becoming president.

Motivated by Tilak, Nanaji joined social service

Nanaji Deshmukh was a thinker of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, a social worker and leader of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. He was born on October 11, 1916 in a small village called Kadoli in the Hingoli district of Maharashtra. Nanaji Bal Gangadhar joined social service, inspired by Tilak's nationalist ideology. Bhupen Hazarika wrote the first song at the age of 10

  • Bhupen Hazarika was a singer, songwriter and composer. He was born on September 8, 1926 in Saadiya district in Assam. He did his BA in Politics Science from Hindu University in Benares.   • In 1936 he recorded his first song. In 1939 he recorded two songs for the film Indramalati. At just 13 years of age, he wrote his first song, 'Agnizgor Firinotti'. Hindi song Rudali and his song Dumna are very popular. He was honored with Padma Shri in 1977, Padma Vibhushan (posthumously) in 2001.
