Budget smartphones have improved a lot in the last one year.

to each other and customers are benefiting directly from it. Realme has
first launched its 64 megapixel camera sensor phone Realme XT in India. Realime
XT has been launched with an impressive specification at an aggressive
price. Xiaomi has launched Redmi Note 8 Pro to compete with Realme
XT. For your convenience, we have compared the Realme XT to the Xiaomi
Redmi Note 8 Pro, let's know ...
Design of Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Realme XT
Corning Gorilla Glass 5 has been used in the front and back
of both handsets in Realme XT (Review) and Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro
(Review). These smartphones have curved glass on the back which helps to give
them a premium look. Both smartphones have a large display, firstly talk of Redmi
Note 8 Pro, it has 6.53 inches and Realme XT has a 6.4-inch screen. Both Realme XT and Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro
also have Dewdrop Notch in the front of the handset, in which the selfie camera
has got a place. We found that in this handset of Realme brand, the
button has been placed in such a way that the hand reaches the button easily.
But on the other hand, the volume button in the Redmi Note 8
Pro is placed slightly above our liking. In the back of the Redmi Note 8 Pro,
there was some difficulty in reaching the fingerprint sensor as it is also
placed a little higher, but you will not have such a problem in Realme XT
as this handset is equipped with in-display fingerprint sensor. However, both
sensors work faster.
For the information of you people, let us know that both the
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro and the Realme XT handset also has a
separate microSD card slot in addition to the dual nano-SIM slot which is a
good thing. At the bottom of both these smartphones is a USB Type-C port with
primary microphone, 3.5mm headphone jack and loudspeaker.
An IR emitter will be found on the upper part of the Redmi
Note 8 Pro but the Realme XT does not have this feature. Realme
XT weighs 183 grams, which is less than the Redmi Note 8 Pro, let us
know that this smartphone of Xiaomi brand weighs 200 grams.
Talking about the battery capacity, the Redmi Note 8 Pro
will get a large battery of 4,500 mAh, while the Reality XT comes with a
4,000 mAh battery. It is worth noting that this handset of the Realme brand
comes with a more powerful charger, with a Wook 20 Watt fast charger, then an
18 W charger is available with the Redmi phone.
Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Realme XT specification and software
While the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor is available in Realme
XT, the latest MediaTek Helio G90T chipset has been used in Xiaomi Redmi
Note 8 Pro. Xiaomi has also given 6 GB RAM in the base variant of Redmi
Note 8 Pro, while the base variant of Reality XT has only 4 GB RAM.
Now let's talk about variants and price.
There are three variants of Reality XT. Talking about
Realme XT Price, its price starts at Rs 15,999. This price is of 4 GB
RAM + 64 GB storage variants. The phone's 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage variant are going to be sold for Rs 16,999 and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variant for Rs 18,999.
There are also three variants of Xiaomi's Redmi Note 8
Pro. Talking about Redmi Note 8 Pro Price, its 6 GB RAM and 64 GB
storage variant costs Rs 14,999. The 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variants of
this phone from Xiaomi will be sold for Rs 15,999. The price of 8 GB RAM and
128 GB storage variants is Rs 17,999.
Both the smartphones come with UFS 2.1 storage and microSD
card slot to increase storage. This handset of Realme brand has an AMOLED panel
with in-display fingerprint sensor. On the other hand, Redmi phones will get
LCD panels with HDR support.
Both these smartphones sport full-HD + resolution. Also,
there will be an option to change the color temperature of the handset's panel.
Now talk of software. The Redmi Note 8 Pro runs on MIUI 10 supported on
Android 9 Pie. It comes with many useful features but in this phone you will
also see many advertisements.
Realme XT runs on ColorOS and will get many apps
preinstalled but we did not get to see the Spanish ads in the phone. We like the
colorOS of Reality over MIUI as it is not very spammy.
Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Realme XT Performance and Battery Life
Performance is certainly very important. When the Xiaomi Redmi
Note 8 Pro was launched, we were curious to see how it would compete with
the Realme XT. The MediaTek Helio G90T processor in the Redmi phone
outperformed the Snapdragon 712 chipset in the Realme phone and is a good
choice especially if gaming is important to you.
We have top-end variants of both smartphones for comparison
which come with 8 GB RAM. While watching the video on these smartphones, we
liked the screen output of the Reality XT because it shows better black due to
the AMOLED panel, as well as the contrast was good.
Talking about performance, during the use of both handsets,
we have not experienced that the phone has slowed down. Multitasking between
navigation and apps in the menu was also smooth. To see how the experience is
during gaming, we watched PUBG Mobile playing in both handsets.
Both Realme and Redmi handsets played the game at high
settings without any problems. We played the match for 30 minutes on both
phones and notice that the Redmi Note 8 Pro was slightly warmer than the
Reality XT. Talking about battery consumption during gaming, Redmi
Note 8 Pro consumed 11 percent and Realme XT consumed only 5 percent
of the battery.
Both phones have different capacity batteries. 4,000 mAh in Reality
XT and 4,500 mAh battery in Redmi Note 8 Pro. In our HD video loop
test, this handset of the Realme brand supported for 20 hours and 36 minutes,
while the Redmi phone only supported for 14 hours.
Powerful charger is available with Realme XT, which
up to 46 percent of the phone's battery in half an hour, while the battery of Redmi
Note 8 Pro was charged only 32 percent.
Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Realme XT Camera
There are four rear cameras in the rear of both smartphones,
this includes a 64-megapixel primary camera sensor, an 8-megapixel wide-angle
camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Realme
XT has a 16-megapixel front camera for selfie, while the Redmi Note 8
Pro has a 20-megapixel front camera.
The camera app of both smartphones is easy to use but the
camera app of Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is slightly more polished. While
Xiaomi has placed the macro camera button properly, Realme has highlighted
different camera modes in the menu.
To see how both handsets perform under similar conditions,
we took pictures from both smartphones at the same time. Both handsets focus
fast and we had no problem. Colors were more accurate in pictures taken from
the Realime XT in daylight and the detail was also better.
In the bright scene, both phones automatically enable HDR.
We liked the pictures taken with Realme XT because the sharpness in the
pictures taken from Redmi Note 8 Pro was more. Pictures taken with the
wide-angle camera came out better than the Redmi Note 8 Pro as the
pictures taken from the Realme XT showed a cooler color tone.
The AI automatically applies the settings on these
smartphones to take better pictures in low light. We notice that Realme XT
takes bright shots. During the use of night mode in both phones, we found that
this phone of Realme brand gives better results.
While shooting closeups, both smartphones lock focus fast
and the AI of the phone detects what we are shooting. The details in both the
phones came out the same, but the Realme XT captured the colors
accurately.
However, while taking closeup shots in low-light, the Redmi
Note 8 Pro surprised us in terms of color reproduction and detail. We found
that the Redmi Note 8 Pro allows setting blur levels when taking
portrait shots, but this was not the case with Realme XT.
Both phones keep the subject separate from the background
and capture the detail well, but the Realme XT applies a beautification
filter on the face. Redmi Note 8 Pro makes the background slightly
overexposed but this was not the case with Realme brand phones.
Portrait shots in low light came good from Redmi phones with
better detail. We have also tested the macro cameras of these smartphones. Both
handsets use LED flash to avoid shadows in the picture while taking macro
shots.
In daylight, Realme XT captures the picture with
better detail with LED flash and without flash. At the same time, Redmi Note
8 Pro takes better macro shots than Realme XT in low light. The
selfie captured from both phones was captured with good detail but we liked the
picture taken with Redmi Note 8 Pro as it had better color tone.
Both handsets take good pictures in selfie portraits. Both
smartphones are capable of recording video at 4K 30fps. Not only this, both
handsets can also record footage at 1080p 60fps and 1080p 30fps. The video
taken from the Redmi Note 8 Pro was more dramatic as the phone increased
contrast and sharpness, while the Realme XT gave natural-looking
results.
Our decision
Realme XT (Review) and Redmi Note 8 Pro
(Review) are both very capable devices, both handsets are good in this price
segment. The Redmi Note 8 Pro scores higher in terms of value for money
with better specification. The Redmi Note 8 Pro has a powerful processor
but it gets a bit hot when loaded.
Of course, 4,500 mAh battery has been given in the Redmi
Note 8 Pro, but in the battery life, it has been overtaken by Realme XT.
Talking about camera performance, Realme XT took better shots in many
circumstances. If you are looking for a gaming device that can handle
everything, then the Redmi Note 8 Pro can be a good option. On
the other hand, Realme XT is a better all-rounder.
