Ola Electric plans to bring electric motorcycle, company to increase production of e-scooter



Last week, Ola Electric launched Ola S1 Air, an affordable electric scooter. Its price has been kept less than the company's already existing Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro.

Ola Electric, one of the largest electric two-wheeler companies in the country, plans to increase the capacity of its factory to meet the demand in the coming years along with production of electric scooters. The company's current production is more than 1,000 electric scooters per day.

The company's CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal said that the company's factory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu will be expanded. "We believe that in the next six to eight months the existing capacity will be filled," he said. He added that Ola Electric has sold over one lakh units since foraying into the segment last year. The company's current capacity is 20 lakh units per annum. This will increase to 10 million units per annum on completion of the factory. The company is working on the concept of new products like electric motorcycles.

Aggarwal said, "We are working on some new concepts. I am very excited about the motorbike segment and you will see something big in this next year." Last week, Ola Electric launched Ola S1 Air, an affordable electric scooter. Its price has been kept less than the company's already existing Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro. The battery capacity of Ola S1 Air is 2.5 KWh and top speed is 85kmph.

The company said that the new electric scooter gives an ARAI range of 101km and a range of 100km under normal conditions. Like other e-scooters of the company, it has features like music, navigation and reverse mode. Ola Electric has also introduced a new version of its operating system Move OS. Ola S1 Air will run on this operating system. The price of this electric scooter is Rs 84,999. This is the starting ex-showroom price. This includes FAME II subsidy. There is no state subsidy in this price. It will be available in Coral Glam, Jet Black, Liquid Silver, Neo Mint and Porcelain White color options. It has front drum brake and rear disc brake. Its weight is about 99 kg. The company has made preparations to sell electric scooters in the international market.
