What is being claimed?

Claims are being made on social media, from 1st January 2023, Rs 1000 notes will arrive and Rs 2000 notes will return to banks. However, no notification related to the release of 1000 rupees note and withdrawal of 2000 rupees note has been released by the government. PIB Fact Check investigated the authenticity of this video which is going viral on social media.

The claim made by PIB Fact Check in the video going viral on social media is completely false. It simply means that from January 1, 2023, neither the new 1000 rupee notes are coming nor the 2000 rupee notes are being withdrawn from the banks. 2000 rupee note will continue as before. PIB Fact Check has appealed to people. Do not share this type of misleading message with anyone or forward it to any group on social media.
